WanderDoor Comprehensive Product Spec

Mission

The WanderDoor is a smart deadbolt and smart lock that combines optical fingerprint, PIN, and Matter-over-Thread technology to provide a secure and convenient locking solution. It replaces existing products such as the Yale Assure and Schlage Encode, and is designed to meet the requirements of UL 437 grade-2 and other relevant compliance standards.

Mechanical Envelope

The WanderDoor has a mechanical envelope that meets the requirements of UL 437 grade-2 and BHMA A156.36 grade-2 (Pro grade-1). The deadbolt is designed to withstand forced entry and tampering, with a UL 437 grade-2 rating for the strike.

Ambassador Build Steps

The WanderDoor is assembled by ambassadors who follow these steps:

1. Inspect and test all components for quality and functionality 2. Assemble the deadbolt and lock mechanism 3. Install the electronic components, including the nRF52840 microcontroller and AS5600 turn encoder 4. Perform functional testing and calibration 5. Engrave the inside of the deadbolt cover with the WanderDoor logo and other identifying information

Radio architecture v2 — LR2021 migration (2026-04-25)

Primary radio: Semtech LR2021 (LoRa Gen 4 / LoRa Plus). Replaces previous multi-chip radio architecture (SX1262 + nRF52840 + CC2652R7 collapsed to one).

**Note (Perplexity-validated 2026-04-25):** When this doc says LR2021 supports multi-PHY in one chip, the *hardware* is multi-PHY-capable, but full protocol stacks (LoRaWAN, Amazon Sidewalk, Meshtastic, Z-Wave, Wi-SUN, BLE, Thread/Zigbee) integrate via firmware layers, not all bundled native. We ship pre-built stacks for the active set per product. See `PERPLEXITY-VALIDATION-2026-04-25.md` in `_WANDERVERSE-LIBRARY/`.
