Everything our engineering, sourcing, and compliance work produced for this product. Nothing here is marketing — it's the actual document we'd hand a contract manufacturer.
The WanderDoor is a smart deadbolt and smart lock that combines optical fingerprint, PIN, and Matter-over-Thread technology to provide a secure and convenient locking solution. It replaces existing products such as the Yale Assure and Schlage Encode, and is designed to meet the requirements of UL 437 grade-2 and other relevant compliance standards.
The WanderDoor is available in two tiers: Standard and Pro. The key differences between the two tiers are:
| Tier | SKU | Price | Battery Life | Authentication | Compliance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | WV-DOOR-STD | $189 | 1 year | PIN + manual key | UL 437 grade-2 |
| Pro | WV-DOOR-PRO | $289 | 3 years | PIN + optical fingerprint + Apple Home Key (NFC) + manual key | UL 437 grade-2 + UL 437 grade-1 strike |
The WanderDoor features a range of identity-aware features, including:
The WanderDoor operates in three modes:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Unlock method | PIN or manual key |
| Remote access | None |
| Mesh connectivity | None |
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Unlock method | PIN, optical fingerprint, or Apple Home Key (NFC) |
| Remote access | Apple Home Key, Google Home, or Matter ecosystems |
| Mesh connectivity | Thread connectivity for remote access and control |
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Unlock method | PIN, optical fingerprint, or Apple Home Key (NFC) |
| Remote access | WanderNode Hub mesh for instant cross-device duress broadcast |
| Mesh connectivity | Thread connectivity for remote access, control, and duress signaling |
The WanderDoor has a mechanical envelope that meets the requirements of UL 437 grade-2 and BHMA A156.36 grade-2 (Pro grade-1). The deadbolt is designed to withstand forced entry and tampering, with a UL 437 grade-2 rating for the strike.
The WanderDoor features the following ports and connectors:
The WanderDoor features the following sensors:
The WanderDoor meets the requirements of the following compliance standards:
The WanderDoor is assembled by ambassadors who follow these steps:
1. Inspect and test all components for quality and functionality 2. Assemble the deadbolt and lock mechanism 3. Install the electronic components, including the nRF52840 microcontroller and AS5600 turn encoder 4. Perform functional testing and calibration 5. Engrave the inside of the deadbolt cover with the WanderDoor logo and other identifying information
The WanderDoor is designed to meet the following key performance indicators (KPIs):
| KPI | Target | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Battery life | 1 year (Standard), 3 years (Pro) | Battery life under normal usage conditions |
| Unlock time | < 1 second | Time from PIN or biometric authentication to unlock |
| False acceptance rate | < 0.01% | Rate of false accepts for biometric authentication |
| Tamper detection | 100% | Ability to detect and log tampering attempts |
| Mesh connectivity | 99.9% uptime | Uptime and reliability of mesh connectivity |

Primary radio: Semtech LR2021 (LoRa Gen 4 / LoRa Plus). Replaces previous multi-chip radio architecture (SX1262 + nRF52840 + CC2652R7 collapsed to one).
This product is Tier-1 critical (life-safety / DV-survivor flagship / global-supply-chain anchor). Hybrid alt-source path retained:

**Note (Perplexity-validated 2026-04-25):** When this doc says LR2021 supports multi-PHY in one chip, the *hardware* is multi-PHY-capable, but full protocol stacks (LoRaWAN, Amazon Sidewalk, Meshtastic, Z-Wave, Wi-SUN, BLE, Thread/Zigbee) integrate via firmware layers, not all bundled native. We ship pre-built stacks for the active set per product. See `PERPLEXITY-VALIDATION-2026-04-25.md` in `_WANDERVERSE-LIBRARY/`.
