v2.1 AMENDMENTS (from 2026-04-24 validation + sensor audit)

This section supersedes the v2.0 content where they conflict. Body below retained for context; v2.1 rules.

Architectural:

Compliance budget corrections (v2.0 undershot):

Firmware engineering budget correction: WanderOS-Band on Zephyr 3.7+ is production-credible BUT Zephyr gives us kernel + sensors + BLE; everything else (UI engine, OTA policy, notification permission model, companion app platform, third-party app ecosystem) is DIY scope. Budget $400-700k firmware engineering through Ultra ship, not $25-50k. 2-3 engineers × 18 months.

Non-invasive glucose reality-check: Rockley Photonics 2028 projection is optimistic per local-LLM ("may still be 3+ years away"). Ultra ships "glucose-ready" hardware (pins + slot + software framework); functional glucose puck ships when Rockley / Apple / Samsung tech actually matures, likely 2029-2030. Marketing language calibrated accordingly.

HRT biometric research: published literature is limited 2024-2026. WanderVerse commits to fund our own IRB-reviewed research program — academic partner + opt-in aggregated data + peer-reviewed publication. Budget $200-500k over 2-3 years. This is our clinical-research moat.

Sensor additions (from tech audit):

Software-only features enabled on existing hardware (firmware v1.x releases): AFib detection (PPG-only), sleep apnea indication, pre-diabetes risk estimation, migraine prediction (barometric + sleep), PCOS characterization, Parkinson's tremor detection (accel), seizure detection, cognitive-decline early indicators (gait + typing rhythm), chronic-fatigue biomarker fusion, burnout early-warning.

Revised pricing (reflecting +BOM from sensor additions):

Margins hold at 48-53%.

Standalone + industry-integration mode (new per dual-mode principle):

Ambassador-assembly wearable-specific note: the small form factor changes Ambassador workflow — per-unit Ambassador assembly time is 25-40 minutes (vs 7-12 min for Bridge Mini) due to micro-components + waterproofing seals + sensor puck alignment + strap verification + per-unit biometric calibration. Fewer Ambassadors per station; one Ambassador does 12-18 bands per day at DVT yield.

Bottom line: v2.1 is honestly more expensive + more ambitious + more carefully-positioned than v2.0. Spec costs went up (mostly in cert + firmware), but so did the feature set and the standalone-mode requirement. Net effect: stronger product, tighter numbers, honest about what ships when.

Brief

WanderBand is a privacy-first, repair-friendly, identity-aware wearable that does things no other smartwatch does — and does the things they all do, without sending your biometrics to a corporate cloud.

Four tiers serving four buyers:

TierPriceWhoKiller feature
**Lite**$129Everyday health tracker for privacy-conscious + budget-conscious buyersBasic biometrics + silent panic + **no cloud ever** at Fitbit Versa pricing
**Standard**$249Daily-driver smartwatch replacement for Apple Watch / Galaxy Watch usersEverything consumer smartwatches do + **trans-affirming biometrics + covert mode**
**Pro**$399Health-data power users, survivors, trans/HRT bodies wanting clinical-gradeECG + cuffless BP + HRV + glucose-ready + LTE eSIM + LoRa mesh
**Ultra**$699Expedition, mobile-living, HAVEN, elite athletes, disaster-prepTitanium + sapphire + 10-day battery + satellite SOS + dive mode + solar assist

All four tiers ship with:

---

Who this is for (and isn't)

Primary audiences:

1. Trans, nonbinary, and HRT-using people — the only wearable calibrated for your body, not a cis baseline. Menstrual + hormone-cycle tracking that's respectful, accurate, and doesn't assume your gender. HRV + stress metrics adjusted for exogenous hormones. 2. Survivors of intimate partner violence / trafficking / abusive households — silent panic button, duress unlock code, covert mode hides safety features from someone watching your wrist, emergency evacuation triggers location + audio recording + HAVEN alert. 3. Digital nomads / mobile-living / LGBTQ+ travelers — LTE eSIM + Airalo integration (via companion WanderRouter Standard-5G/Ultra), LoRa mesh to HAVEN network, satellite SOS. 4. High-privacy households — data local-only; no Apple/Google/Samsung health cloud. Family filtering + identity-aware defaults inherit from WanderOS ecosystem. 5. Clinical self-trackers — ECG + HRV + temp + cuffless BP for people managing conditions (AFib, hypertension, PCOS, perimenopause, long COVID, thyroid, trans health). 6. Elderly safety / aging-in-place — fall detection + heart rate anomaly alerts + location sharing with trusted contacts + medication reminders (WanderRx integration).

Who it's NOT for:

---

The identity-aware moat (what makes this uniquely WanderVerse)

No other wearable ships any of these. Together they are a category no one else competes in.

1. Trans-affirming clinical biometrics

Mainstream wearable algorithms are trained on cisgender-baseline data. For trans + HRT bodies, this means:

WanderBand:

2. Silent panic + duress unlock + covert mode

Five layers of safety features that work without anyone watching your wrist being able to tell:

3. Emergency Evacuation Mode

Single feature that combines everything the band can do into one pre-packaged response. Triggered by: silent panic, duress unlock, crash detection, fall detection, AFib detection, or voice trigger.

4. LoRa mesh to HAVEN

Pro + Ultra tiers include a low-power LoRa module. When cellular fails:

5. Menstrual + hormone tracking that's respectful

Respectful is specific. It means:

6. Integration with WanderVerse ecosystem

Smoothly paired with:

Shared platform architecture (applies to all tiers)

Modular sensor puck (back of watch)

The underside of every WanderBand — the part that touches your skin — is a detachable sensor module ("sensor puck") held by 4× small screws + board-to-board connector.

Why: new biometric tech ships every 12-18 months. Apple Watch can't add non-invasive glucose because the whole device is sealed. WanderBand can because the puck swaps.

Ship tiers:

Upgrade cost: Send-back to Ambassador depot, puck swap, $25 service fee + puck price. Your original band, new sensors. No existing watch vendor offers this — every other wearable goes to e-waste when tech advances.

22mm quick-release strap lugs

Industry-standard 22mm quick-release. Works with:

Strap swap takes 5 seconds, no tools, per Standard 2 + 6b.

Case sizes

Three platform sizes, interoperable with all tiers:

Users with smaller wrists can order Lite/Standard in 40mm; larger wrists get 46mm. Pro/Ultra have defined form factors (not user-sized).

Ambassador-engraved case back

Every WanderBand's rear sensor puck has an engraved inner ring visible when the puck is removed for service/upgrade. Contains:

Permanent, weatherproof, part of the device's history. Never removable without destroying the puck.

Sensor roadmap 2027-2030

One of WanderBand's biggest differentiators: you buy it once, it gets better over time. New biometric modules ship via send-back upgrade.

YearTechAvailabilityPuck tier
2027PPG + HRV + skin temp + ECG (clinical-grade)Ship-day all tiersv1.5 on Pro
2027-Q3Continuous cuffless BP (with cuff calibration)Pro shipv1.5

2029-Q2Breath biomarkers (CO2, acetone — diabetes indicator)Upgrade modulev3
2030+Emerging — sweat-sensor ions, real-time cortisol, UV-visible-spectroscopy biomarkersUpgrade modulesv4

The promise: Your 2027 WanderBand Pro with a 2028 glucose puck becomes a 2029 hydration-puck — same chassis, same software, same memories, same Ambassador. This alone is more repair-culture than anything the wearable industry has ever shipped.

Compliance path

Standard (not health-regulated)

Cert budget Lite + Standard: ~$8-15k total family launch cost

Pro + Ultra (health-regulated)

Pro/Ultra claim clinical-grade biometrics for ECG, cuffless BP, AFib detection, glucose (when shipping). This triggers:

Cert budget Pro + Ultra: ~$200k (ECG + cuffless BP + AFib) plus ~$500k (glucose when shipped) plus annual audit costs

Phased strategy: ship Pro/Ultra with "wellness-tier" claims at v1.0 (not medical-grade), pursue FDA clearance for ECG + AFib in v1.1 (6-month post-launch), clinical validation study for cuffless BP in v1.5, glucose as a separate product launch in 2028 once Rockley tech matures.

Radio + cellular

Pro + Ultra add: FCC Part 22/24/27 (cellular), PTCRB, GCF, carrier-specific (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Google Fi). Telit ME910G1-WW or equivalent for LTE Cat-M1 — has modular cert we can inherit.

Ultra adds: 3GPP NTN for satellite SOS — this requires partnership with Skylo, Iridium, or Globalstar; cert pathway defined by the network operator.

Battery

---

Hardware stack / firmware

SoC / MCU

RTOS / firmware

Open hardware

Why not fully open PCBs: our nearest competitors (Whoop, Fitbit, Apple) have sealed everything. Open hardware strap + community firmware + repairable sensor puck is already radical. Full open PCB + mechanical design may come in 2029+ when the product has proven itself and competitors can't undercut us before we've built our customer base.

Framework Laptop is our north star — they open more over time. We'll do the same.

---

Modular upgrade economics (the "buy once, upgrade forever" promise)

If you buy Pro in 2027 for $399 and use WanderVerse's upgrade service over the next 7 years:

YearUpgradeCostYour watch has...
2027Initial purchase$399ECG + cuffless BP (beta) + HRV + HRT profile
2028Glucose puck module+$120+ non-invasive glucose + clinical-grade BP
2029Hydration + lactate puck+$80+ training-grade sports biometrics
2030Emerging sensor puck+$70+ 2030's killer biometric
2031Battery replacement+$40+ fresh battery
2032Cover refresh (Pro CNC → Lux wood bezel)+$180+ Lux-tier aesthetics
2033Ambassador-re-signed on anniversary request+$30+ new Ambassador glyph inside

Total 7-year cost: $917.

Versus Apple Watch: $399/year replacement × 7 = $2,793. And at year 7, Apple's 2027 model is unsupported.

Framework-level longevity for wearables. No one else offers this.

Honest open items (v1.0 spec gaps to close pre-launch)

1. Non-invasive glucose supplier — Rockley Photonics roadmap assumed; if delayed, Pro/Ultra "glucose-ready" slot stays empty longer. Mitigation: don't premarket glucose as ship-day feature, promise "when Rockley ships." 2. 3GPP NTN satellite SOS partner — Skylo, Iridium Certus, Globalstar — Stage 4 research. Ultra's satellite SOS may slip to 2028-Q4+ depending on network partner. 3. FDA 510(k) ECG clearance path — we'll submit at v1.1 (post-ship), so v1.0 Pro/Ultra ship with "wellness ECG" not "medical ECG." Marketing copy needs to be careful. 4. HRT biometric calibration research — published research on HRT + HRV / sleep / metabolic rate is limited 2024-2026. WanderVerse commits to our own IRB-reviewed research contribution. This is a moat opportunity: WanderVerse-affiliated clinical research on trans health biometrics, with opt-in aggregate (differential privacy) datasets feeding our algorithms + publishing peer-reviewed papers. 5. Battery chemistry trade-off — LiFePO4 is safer + longer cycle life but lower energy density = bigger/heavier. Li-ion (LCO/NMC) is what competitors use. Decision: ship Li-ion (user-replaceable, standard chemistry) with optional LiFePO4 upgrade for users who want it at a weight penalty. 6. Sensor-puck connector interface — proprietary pin design that survives 100+ swap cycles without fatigue. Magnetic pogo-pin with latch? Zero-insertion-force spring-loaded? Stage 3 mechanical engineering decision. 7. Cellular carrier activation for Pro+ eSIM — same challenges as WanderRouter Standard-5G. Apply the same architecture (Airalo + Holafly + Nomad, multi-profile eUICC). 8. Pricing sensitivity — is $129 Lite achievable with a real AMOLED + metal crown + magnetic dock? Validates at Stage 4 CM quote. Fallback: $149 Lite. 9. Supply chain resilience — wearable SoCs (Ambiq, Nordic, Qualcomm) are more concentrated than networking silicon. Second-source discipline from day 1.

Bottom line

WanderBand is a genuinely aspirational product that combines:

1. Clinical-grade biometrics at Apple Watch retail 2. Trans-affirming algorithms no one else has even tried to build 3. Survivor-grade safety features nobody else ships 4. Modular sensor-puck architecture that keeps the band relevant for 7+ years 5. Repair culture — user-replaceable battery, 22mm straps, Ambassador-assembled 6. Privacy-first default — no cloud, data stays on your body 7. WanderVerse ecosystem integration — routers, cameras, cars, health, safety all coordinated 8. Open firmware — WanderOS-Band + Zephyr; AsteroidOS flash compatible

Four tiers from $129 Lite to $699 Ultra. Ambassador-engraved case backs. 7-year parts guarantee. Sensor upgrades via send-back. Community STL straps. LoRa mesh to HAVEN network.

No other wearable on the market in 2026 has even 3 of these. WanderBand has all 8.

Ready for implementation engineering + compliance path + first RFQ cycle.
