Inbound Diagnostic
Upon receiving a WanderBaby unit for diagnostic purposes, follow these step steps to assess its condition and determine necessary repairs or replacemen replacements:
1. Visual Inspection:
- Check for visible signs of damage such as cracks, dents, or liquid int
intrusion marks.
- Ensure that the privacy shutter and mic-kill switch function correctly
correctly (shutter covers lens, switch mutes microphone).
- Inspect LED indicators for correct functionality.
2. Functional Testing:
- Power on the unit and verify that it boots successfully without error
messages.
- Check video quality in 1080p HDR mode (for WV-BABY-STD) or 4K HDR mode
mode (for WV-BABY-PRO).
- Ensure audio quality is clear with stereo MEMS mic recording.
- Test breathing motion detection functionality and ensure it works accu
accurately without false positives.
3. Software Assessment:
- Verify that firmware is up-to-date and matches the expected version ba
based on the unit's SKU.
- Run a diagnostic test to check for any software bugs or issues affecti
affecting system stability.
- Confirm compatibility with supported third-party platforms (HomeKit Se
Secure Video, Google Nest) if applicable.
4. Environmental Testing:
- Ensure that the unit meets environmental standards (FCC Part 15, FCC P
Part 18, CE EMC).
- Test for electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure it operates wit
within acceptable limits.
- Confirm battery safety compliance with IEC 62133.

periods.
- Replacement Steps:
- Power off and remove the back cover.
- Disconnect any charging cables or internal power connections.
- Unscrew or unclip the battery pack from its mounting position.
- Replace with a new, fully charged WB-BAT01.
Battery Service
Battery service involves replacement of the WB-BAT01 in case of failure or wear. Follow these guidelines:
Safety Precautions
- Always use approved batteries that comply with IEC 62133 standards.
- Wear protective gloves to prevent accidental discharge and skin irritatio
irritation from battery chemicals.
Battery Replacement Process
1. Discharge the Unit:
- Ensure all power is off before beginning any replacement process.
2. Remove Back Cover:
- Carefully pry open the back cover without damaging it or compromising
its waterproof seal.
3. Disconnect Internal Cables:
- Gently disconnect the battery from all internal connections, ensuring
no forceful pulling on fragile wires.
4. Install New Battery Pack:
- Insert a new WB-BAT01 unit into place and reconnect the power cables s
securely.
5. Seal and Test:
- Reattach the back cover tightly to ensure waterproof integrity.
- Power up the device to confirm proper operation with the new battery.
Firmware Roll-Back
In cases where a firmware update causes issues, roll-back procedures are ne necessary:
Pre-Rollback Checks
1. Backup Data: Ensure any critical user data is backed up locally or e externally before proceeding. 2. Verify Version Compatibility: Confirm that a previous stable firmwar firmware version exists and matches the device SKU.
Roll-Back Procedure
1. Download Correct Firmware:
- Obtain the correct version of firmware from official sources.
2. Prepare Device for Update:
- Power off the device completely and connect it to a computer via USB.
- Place the device into update mode by holding specific buttons during b
boot-up (refer to user manual).
3. Install Firmware:
- Transfer the downloaded firmware file directly onto the device's stora
storage space through the connected PC.
- Initiate installation using proprietary software or manual process as
per documentation.
4. Post-Installation Checks:
- Power on the WanderBaby and verify that it boots successfully with rev
reverted firmware settings.
- Run diagnostics to confirm all features work correctly post-roll-back.
post-roll-back.
Decommission + Secure-Wipe
Decommissioning a WanderBaby involves securely wiping data from the device and safely disposing of hardware components:
Data Wiping Procedure
1. Panic Button Activation:
- Press and hold the panic button combination (referenced in user manual
manual) to erase all recordings.
2. Factory Reset:
- Execute a factory reset through software or physical buttons, ensuring
ensuring that no residual data remains.
3. Verifying Wipe Success:
- Power on the device post-reset and confirm it starts as new with defau
default settings.
Hardware Disposal
1. Remove Battery: Unscrew or unclip battery pack WB-BAT01 for recyclin recycling. 2. Disassemble Cover: Carefully remove back cover to expose main compon components. 3. Component Removal:
- Safely detach and store all FRUs (lens assembly, microphone, radar mod
module) for potential reuse or proper disposal.
4. Mainboard Destruction:
- Physically destroy the mainboard by breaking it into pieces using safe
safe methods that prevent data recovery. 5. Documentation Retention:
- Keep a record of destruction and disposal actions in compliance with e
environmental regulations and company policy.
Ambassador Signature Provenance
Each WanderBaby unit assembled by an ambassador bears an engraved signature signature inside its back cover, ensuring authenticity:
Verification Steps
1. Remove Back Cover: Carefully open the device to reveal internal comp components. 2. Check Engraving: Look for a unique, hand-written signature correspon corresponding to the assigned assembly ambassador.
3. Compare with Registry:
- Cross-reference engraved signatures against an official registry maint
maintained by WanderBaby HQ to confirm authenticity.
Signature Significance
- Validates that each unit is crafted with care and attention to detail.
- Provides a tangible link between user trust and product quality assurance
assurance.
