WanderSOS
Crisis infrastructure — 988 LGBTQ+ press-3 ended July 2025, 178 welfare check deaths, veterans 8x more likely to die by suicide at 3am.
Safety & PrivacyAbout
The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline's LGBTQ+ specialized line (press 3) was defunded and terminated in July 2025 — LGBTQ+ people are now routed to the general line, erasing a specifically affirming pathway. 178 people died during welfare checks from 2016-2022 — welfare checks are not always safe. Veterans are 8x more likely to die by suicide between midnight and 4am than the general population — that's when chosen-network dispatch matters most, not next-day coordination. In 2022, 988 received 5 million contacts but couldn't handle volumes for populations in acute crisis. Trans Lifeline, Trevor Project, and Crisis Text Line all operate, but none integrate with chosen-network dispatch, LoRa mesh, or non-police crisis response infrastructure. WanderSOS is the layer that makes all of them accessible without police as the default. Four levels, chosen network first, works without cellular over WanderHaven LoRa mesh.
