Day 17: Sickness in Musanze

Short one today.

Spent the day at the guest house in Musanze, sick. Hit me sometime in the night, and by morning it was clear I wasn't going anywhere. Bacterial infection. Started a course of ciprofloxacin.

The rest of the group went out. I stayed in bed, watched movies on my laptop, napped, tried to keep water down. Not every day on a trip like this is an adventure. Some days are just about getting through it.

Getting sick while traveling is one thing. Getting sick far from home, far from the medical infrastructure you're used to, is something else. I was lucky to have the medication on hand and a comfortable place to rest. Aware of that, even while feeling sorry for myself.

Hoping to feel better tomorrow. There's still more to see.
