Oh, the Places You'll Go
Quick fundraising update first: we're at $200 on GoFundMe. Thank you to everyone who donated. Genuinely appreciate it.
This weekend I put together a Google Maps visualization of the itinerary. Wanted a way for people to actually see where we're going instead of just reading a list of place names, so I mapped it all out with color-coded pins.
How the Map Works
Blue pins are accommodations — the hotels and guesthouses in Kigali, Butare, Ruhengeri, and Gisenyi. Red pins are the actual sites. Memorial sites, museums, national parks, development projects, all of it. Click any pin and you get a brief note about what we'll be doing there. It's a good way to see visually just how much ground we're covering.
Rwanda Is Small But Dense
Rwanda is roughly the size of Maryland. But we're covering a lot of it — south from Kigali to Butare, through the western rainforests of Nyungwe, north to the volcanic region near Musanze, and along Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. The distances don't look like much on a map. The terrain is another story.
I'll share the map link so you can bookmark it and track the journey as it goes. Once we're in-country, the blog posts will tie to specific locations so the map should give useful context.
If you're able to share the GoFundMe link anywhere, that would help a lot. Word of mouth goes a long way. More updates coming.
